Did someone say, Chikin? |
Chic-fil-a...
I am disgusted by the statements of the company owner.
"You see, I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Not a Word from God, but the Word of God. And as far as my menopausal brain can tell, God’s Word says one man, one woman. Not two men and two women. And frankly, as a Christian, I’ve struggled with that." ~Dan Kathy
Thing is... in this country, it's his right to believe what he believes and it even more so, it's his right to say what he believes. Even if we don't agree with what he's saying. ESPECIALLY if we don't agree with what he's saying.
For the record... he's wrong.
Wait! Shut up! Calm the fuck down!
Let's run down the biblical forms of marriage for you.
Genesis 2:24; Man + Woman. Woman has to prove she's a virgin or we stone her to death
Judges 19:1-30; Man + Woman + Concubines
Gen 4:19; Man + woman + woman + woman (Polygymy - the most common form of biblical marriage)
Deuteronomy 22:28-29; Rapist + Victim
Gen. 38:6-10; Widow without a son + Closest male relative
Numbers 31:1-18, Dueteronomy 21:11-14; Male soldier + Female prisoner of war
Exodus 21:4; Male slave + Female slave
Gen. 16:1-6; Man + woman + woman's female slave
Dan Kathy seems to have forgotten a whole bunch of options. What's funny is that they cite the teachings of Jesus who lived in a Roman controlled society. Roman society even had a word for it pais. A male love partner. In Matthew 8 and Luke 7, Jesus met and BLESSED a man who had a pais. That's right... Jesus blessed a gay man. Knowingly.
That's right! He blessed a soldier! |
Further... Jesus mentioned Sodom. (Matthew 10:15, Matthew 11:23, Mark 6:11, Luke 10:12, Luke 17:29) Never once did he mention homosexuality when discussing the place. Not once. If he was opposed to it... don't you think this would have been the moment that he would have brought it up?
Yeah. Me too.
In the bible, the term eunuch is sometimes used to describe Gay men, too.
According to Jesus there are three kinds of eunuchs. The first kind he mentions are those who "were so born from their mother's womb." Matthew 19:12.
So...
“But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs , which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” Matthew 19:11-12
He MAY have been blessing more than just the one gay man.
Just sayin'...
ANYWAY... Chic-fil-a
Let's set the record straight... Calling for a boycott of a company because you don't agree with their politics is not an attempt to crush free speech. It is exercising your right as a consumer.
Going and buying chicken on a specific day isn't exercising your free speech. It is you getting fat on some corporate fat cat's marketing idea...
And that is all it was... was a successful money grab... It galvanized the nation and made them an estimated 30 million additional profit in ONE DAY...
That's about the size of it! |
EVERYONE should turn around and scream at those city governments that declared a moratorium on the company... Whether or not you agree with Chic-fil-a's politics... the government had NO place interfering in this... There was no impediment to free speech till places like Boston and Chicago spoke out against it and announced use of government resources to keep the company out.
SO... if you really care about free speech in this country... stop bitching about or eating chicken and look around you at the real problem.
Besides... Chic-fil-a's chicken is greasy, is oddly sticky, and tastes... well bland... Hit up KFC or POPEYE'S...
